The quarter final of the Herts County Cup was a keenly contested affair with Hitchin asking St Albans to bat first. St Albans batted confidently against some very strong Hitchin bowling. The first wicket fell in the 7th over with St Albans already on 244 and this steady accumulation of runs continued until the end of the innings with St Albans reaching 256-6.

Hitchin began their innings cautiously and suffered the loss of 2 early wickets and with some tight bowling by St Albans, Hitchin struggled to pile on the runs. However, Hitchin's confidence grew and by the end of the 14th over, they had reached 246-4. With the excitement growing, Tom Blight produced a superb 15th over and collected a wicket which in the end just saw St Albans home as Hitchin fell short with 253-5.
