St Albans Cricket Club 3XI v Potters Bar V on Sat 07 May 2005 at 2.00pm
St Albans Cricket Club Won St Albans win by 65 runs
A convincing victory in the end but with few top performances. Of the batting, only Simon "the slug" Fretter, with his first hundred for the club, showed the concentration required to build a score against some varied bowling. A few wobbles were seen in the eighties and nineties but the wise head of his dad Jerry kept the singles flowing with some intelligent cricket. Well done the Slug! A brisk 26 at the end by nick Kirwan livened the proceedings and the total should have been well out of reach. The opening bowlers performed well enough but will have to improve for league cricket. Colin Murphy showed exactly what should be done and bowled an accurate line and length, finishing with 4-12. Useful practice but we will face sterner opposition and need to be better in all areas.
