Match report A disappointing result for the second team.

A decent batting performance ensured a competitive total. Fergie was unlucky early on with a dubious decision from the home umpire (a theme of the day), before Grant and Phil set about laying solid foundations. After an 86 run partnership Grant was caught for 34 and the infamous St Albans collapse ensued. Dorse ran himself out in bizarre fashion for 41, Toby was the second victim of the home trigger finger for 0 and Hounslow fell to a good ball for 5 leaving the 2's wobbling at 106-5. Sandi and Jonesy set about rebuilding with a 40 run partnership before Jonesy was caught for 26. Sandi continued to bat beautifully with the lower order reaching his half century with 3 overs left. Sandi opened his shoulders and ensured the maximum batting points were achieved before the tails resistence ended with the total of 218.

Old Owens reply got off to a swift start which was helped by Nathan pulling a hammie in his 3rd over. Charlie and Amit bowled some good stuff but the runs started to flow. Amit removed one of the openers for 7 but then the homeside built a decent partnership. Hounslow was the next to strike with 2 useful wickets but the home sides overseas player started to get going and smashed a few big sixes to push the score along. Saints managed to pick up one more wicket from Phil bowling a tidy spell but Old Owens run rate was still going strong and they won comfortably in the end.

A mixed day for the 2's with some decent performances from some individuals but the team overall fell some way short, particularly in the second half. Work to do next week.......
