St Albans Cricket Club Won by 30 runs

Match report St.Albans and Redbourn played out a keenly fought opening league game of the season at Clarence Park on a bright but chilly Tuesday evening. As the gloomy conditions at the end of the match were to prove, captain Jacob made the best of the conditions choosing to bat first. Jack (31) got St Albans off to a great start retiring in the 7th over. Fellow opener James did not see much of the strike early on, but played a chanceless innings and carried his bat for 22, ably supported by a breezy 23 from Jacob in the last few overs.

Redbourn’s reply came under immediate pressure when Joe (3-5-1) took a wicket in the first over. Josh was able to extract some extra bounce from the pitch and keep Redbourn’s run rate down. St Albans bowlers all bowled a very tight line, squeezing Redbourn’s batsmen and taking wickets regularly to close out the game and win by 30 runs.
