Match report Under cover of threatening rain clouds, St Albans were put in to bat. St Albans started slowly, pinned back by tight bowling, and were 10 for 1 in the 5th over. Matt Burman (32) and Ben Hicks (36) recovered well putting on 65 in the next 10 overs. Letchworth mixed up the bowling options, restricting St Albans to 105-4. With only 10 players St Albans knew it was going to be a tough target to defend.
St Albans bowling attack struck early and both of Letchworth’s openers were back in the pavilion by the 3rd over. Letchworth picked up the pace and were well ahead of the asking rate in the 10th over, until Jacob Winfield (4-7-1) and Matt Burman (2-1-1) put the brakes on. Jack Ypey 4-11-2, ably supported by excellent fielding and 3 catches by Matt Burman, guided St Albans home, and victory by 10 runs.
