A bright but brisk evening resulted in some nail biting cricket at SLCG this evening.

Hatfield Hyde won the toss and elected to bat, their openers Akshaj and Jon watchful initially then sharing the full range of shots, dispatching the St. Albans attack to all corners. Lower order batsmen Sean and Joe G finding the boundary at will, scooting the ball across the fast outfield much to the delight of the crowd.

The St. Albans attack re-grouped, bowling better up the slight incline into the stiff breeze. Harry and the Wheeler brothers accurate with the ball in hand. Harry bagging two wickets and the wheeler brothers one each.

Hatfield Hyde setting St. Albans a challenging total of 256 to win. St. Albans debutant Romeo combining well with Harry forming a solid partnership to some very accurate Hatfield Hyde bowling. Other partnerships building on their impressive start. Sean, Joe G and Joe O all taking a wicket a piece, all very accurate with the ball!

Hatfield Hyde courageous in the field, working hard in the deep, stopping some solid St. Albans hitting. The highlight of the evening being a classic catch from the Hatfield Hyde wicketkeeper, diving to his left, scooping the ball up better than any professional I have seen in recent years. All those present would agree it was one of the best catches they have seen from a cricketer of any age.

The game played well and could have gone either way. 3 cheers for all involved. Cricket being played the way it should be!
