Match report After overnight storms and with conditions still hot and humid, the threat of further rain disruptions was very much on the captains' minds at the toss. Saints called correctly and elected to bat, enticed by the good looking wicket and short boundaries.

Saints innings started brightly with Nisar and James building a good opening partnership. James perished in the 8th over for 27, but Nisar continued to keep the scoreboard ticking. At the other end, Maynard's innings of 8 lacked the fluency of previous weeks and he was eventually caught behind in the 16th over with the score on 61. New batsman Goodfellow (27) continued to attack, but both he and Nisar were out in quick succession shortly after the latter completed his half century. Hay and Webber hit a clutch of boundaries to push the score past 150, but Saints' tail failed to wag with the team dismissed for 167 in the 45th over.

Hay and Clouting lead Saints bowling attack, the former delivering a typically tight and probing spell without reward (0-20), while the later made the early inroads with his destructive left arm seam (3-10). With the change of bowling, Harpenden might have hoped for a change of fortunes, but Dempsey and Townend picked up where the others left off. Dempsey's pace picked up as he got into his rhythm and he was rewarded with 2 wickets, both pouched by Maynard behind the stumps. At the other end, Townend could do no wrong with good and bad balls delivering wickets alike. He soon finished off the innings and the match, collecting 5 for 21 as Harpenden's last man holed out to Hay in the deep.

Saints ended up convincing winners against a side sitting second in the table, with high quality bowling attack more than making up for a slightly below par performance with the bat. Same again next week please!
