Match report Almost a carbon copy of last Sundays game St Albans lost the toss, faced some big batting and despite some good bowling performances were set a target that was always going to be out of reach in this time game.

Wembley CC are a team who usually give us a competitive match but some huge hitting by their Australian overseas player supported by several of their other batsman took the game out of reach as they found the boundary with regularity.

Despite the opposition posting a total of 192 credit should go to Harry Saunders for a tight ,10 over opening spell (10-4-14-0) , Dave Ashton for a Scrooge like 3 wicket haul (6-0-13-3) and Amit Rajani for his 4 wickets from a classy display of accurate swing bowling (9-2-34-4).

Again, 5 dropped catches (some harder than others) let us down but the ground fielding was generally good ...must do better .....

Despite a strong batting line-up (9 of the 11 St Albans batsmen had club 50's under their belts) scoring runs proved to be a struggle . The top order failed to get going with 3 of the top 4 falling to somewhat suspect LBW decisions , which took the shine off proceedings somewhat. Jack Ypey's typically flamboyant 29 was the highlight of what was a mediocre batting display at best.

With 8 wickets down it was up to the tail to try and salvage a draw as the overs ticked down. Harry and Andy Saunders blocked for 6 overs before Saunders Senior was caught and bowled. Tom Townend then came in to join Harry and together they continued to deny the opposition the last wicket. Harry's heroic 15 over bockathon finally came to an end with 11 balls to spare as he left a straight one that clipped his off stump.

Disappointing then but hospitable hosts , a nice tea, some good bowling performances and an umpire who should probably brush up on the LBW law. And it didn't rain.....
