Match report With one of the strongest XIs put out for St Albans IVs in many years, Saints IVs continued on their winning ways, comfortably defeating previously unbeaten Langleybury.

Little and Button commenced proceedings admirably as we were asked to field first. Walsh and Walker then found their lines, and were given welcome support in the field. Gallagher swung lustily, taking Telkman for 6-4-4 at the start of one over, but next ball Telkman took revenge to bowl the top scorer for 48. As is often the way, having done the hard work up front, the rewards were now reaped as Saints crashed through the rest of the line up, Telkman's 3 wickets being followed by Hiscock's two ball spell that yielded 2 wickets.

The home side were a man short, their 11th man a taxi driver called out on a lengthy fare; there was no truth in the rumour that Saints had arranged this.

After a decent tea in this picturesque setting, openers Karunanayake and James set about reinforcing the work done with the ball. Again, they built from a slow start, knowing that the home side would fade as runs accumulated. Harsha was unfortunate to fall for 34, somehow swatting a legside ball off the back of the bat to slip. By this time the score was already 70, and Kanchwala looked on comfortably as James took over to bring Saints a resounding victory - whilst falling a run short of his own half century.

Onward to Rickmansworth next!
