St Albans Cricket Club Won by 46 runs

Match report A warm, sunny day on the opening day of the league season saw the 4XI win the toss and elect to bat on a benign SLCG wicket. Half centuries from Nick James (74) and Andy Knill-Jones (50) saw us off to a solid start with a stylish contribution from Hugo Thomas (25) and several double figure scores down the order to register a healthy 228-6 at tea.

Hassan Salahin opened the bowling with a fiery 5 over spell partnered by Joe Button , a brisk wind making bowling from the Sandpit Lane tough for the youngster but he stuck at it well and both openers picked a wicket apiece.

Jon Little , bowled splendidly as usual pinning down an end with Naveed Ahmed , Alfie Tinkler in supporting roles.

Skipper Andy Saunders took a couple of wickets in a 7 over spell and there were short cameos from Faz Nisar and Moksudul Islam to close out the innings and restrict the opposition to 182, 46 runs short of the required total .

An excellent first victory of the season with all playing a part in the win .
