Match report An opening Indoor League fixture won by Saints when for much of the evening Flamstead looked likely to win. Inspiration came from Sandipan Chanda whose 93* as last man was a demonstration on how to bat indoors.

Flamstead batted first with both openers comfortably reaching 25 before the lower ordered struggled to get going. Only their return saw 59 from the last 3 overs as all bowlers struggled to control the flow of runs. Amit Rajani picked up a wicket but 169 is a large chase.

Saints started slowly, with Max seeing red rather than white when run out without facing. The creases are the white & not the red lines - lesson learnt. Dom was bowled first ball before Hounslow & Chanda puched the score on to 44 in the 4th when Hammer retired. both Amit, for 4, and Syed, a debut first-baller, departed in the 6th over and a halfway score of 67 for 4 suggested Saints were not favourites to win. No point in dying without trying as Hammer & Sandi added 42 in the next 2 overs leaving 60 from 15. Hammer departed for a jug avoiding 49 to a good catch in the 9th over leaving Sandi 53 to get from 21 balls. This he did with a ball to spare with steady batting and good running from both batsmen.

A win to start the season and with a side missing both Dan Rosson (did someone mention Burnley?) and the anniversary celebrating Matt Howeson a good season can be hoped for.
