Match report A comprehensive win for the First XI at Holtwhites with a 143 run partnership between Simon White & Mbekezeli Mabuza at its core.

Surprisingly asked to bat by the hosts, Saints started steadily before Hounslow chipped one to square leg in the 6th over. Mabuza was badly dropped at mid off when on 6 and with assorted byes & leg byes helping the score, the 50 partnership arrived in 99 balls. The slower bowlers used in mid innings kept better control but chances were not forthcoming. Mabuza reached his 50 first, from 78 balls, with White (114 balls) joining him soon after. The partnership was broken by a misunderstanding in running. Jamie Regan, with 22, batted well as Saints looked to score quickly in the closing overs. A score of 233 for 6 looked to be a good target to set.

The Holtwhites chase was as good as over inside the first 15 overs with both Michael Grossett & Jacob Winfield, who removed the in-form Younis for 8, picking up two wickets a piece. The attacking intent of the batsmen never wavered despite the position which helped Uttam Vijender pick up 4 cheap wickets, finishing with 4 for 19. Jamie Regan had Masood caught behind by Howeson to finish the innings for under 100. Matt Howeson, deputising as keeper, picked up 4 catches.

A comfortable win with the hard work of White & Mabuza essential in giving the bowlers a score to defend. 8th play 9th next weekend when Hitchin visit Clarence Park.
