Match report A day worth forgetting for St Albans 1XI, as Knebworth Park 1XI visited Clarence Park.

Losing the toss for the 4th week in a row, St Albans found themselves inserted by the opposition captain. The wicket looked a little green, but it was the swing bowling of Charlie Randall that proved St Albans undoing. The former Middlesex IIs bowler, bowling with decent pace and swinging the ball, proved the undoing of both openers within the first 4 overs. A procession of wickets fell, with only Jamie Regan looking accomplished at the crease for any period of time. With none of the top 7 batsman making double figures, Phil Caley and Mike Grossett batting at 8 and 9, gave us some hope of a defendable total, both making 16 with Mike Grossett left not out as the tail were quickly dismissed. Randall finished with figures of 7-31 as St Albans were bowled out for 72, in just 28.3 overs.

In reply the Knebworth batsman made batting look much easier, the only real glimpse of hope for St Albans came as Dan Rosson dismissed Kenbworth's overseas with a diving catch from keeper Howeson. Knebworth completing a comfortable chase in the 20th over.

St Albans 1XI now start the second half of their campaign, hoping for a strong performance against Preston, who visit Clarence Park this coming Saturday.
