Mmmm....! How do these things happen - beaten by a team who are rock bottom and have played fairly poorly all season. Quite easily really, they upped their game and played quite well whereas St Albans were lacking. Only four of eleven selected on Monday played on Saturday - that can't be good. Batsmen struggled on a bowler friendly pitch, but an obdurate Murray and a superb Furnivall saw a decent total recorded. Then the bowlers probably bowled a little too short, many balls passing over the stumps or flying past the edge. LBS worked hard to hang around and gather runs when they could, which in the end was enough, getting home with an over to spare. If St Albans hope to challenge for promotion then more consistent availability and better personal performances will be required
