Old Cholmeleians v St Albans Cricket Club 3XI on Sat 12 Jul 2008 at
St Albans Cricket Club Lost by seven wickets
From the fourth over of the match (when Rudlin and Wischnowsky started their partnership) to tea St Albans looked like a very good side. Andrew Rudlin batted patiently on a difficult pitch and Shaun Wischnowsky (first league hundred for the club) attacked any wayward bowling with gusto. Pat McCarthy joined in with his first fifty in only his third game. With rain in the air, 223 on the board and an opposition of ten men, an aggresssive declaration was made - all we had to do then was bowl well.
We didn't!
One decent batsman, some very ordinary bowling, three injured players, four dropped catches later the game was over with nearly twenty overs to spare. Only Jamie Telkman bowled with enough line and length to hold his head up in the bar afterwards. Must do better with the ball, although winning the toss could help.
