Old Cholmeleians II v St Albans Cricket Club 4XI on Sat 03 Jul 2004 at
St Albans Cricket Club Won St Albans win by 4 wickets

Match report Captain JF, at last, won the toss and had no hesitation in putting Old Chom's into bat on a damp, green top wicket.

Geffin and, in particular, Uzman Zaman bowled tightly, if a little on the wrong line. However, after 7 overs and with just 13 on the board, Zaman struck, when trapping Stevens in front. Despite a couple of chances going down in the slips, the side kept well on top. Zaman struck again to remove the other opener at 38-2.

A change saw Bashford into the attack, and her was rewarded with a wicket with his first ball. A true Bashford ball ( a wide, long hop) saw it safely caught by Zaman, who had wandered into position moments earlier. Bashord continued to make life difficult for the Old Choms batsmen, with his top bowling, followed by the dross. However, the dross was just as threatening.

Wickets continued to tumble and Bashford finished with a 5-25 and Zaman 4-38, as St Albans bowled Old Cholm out for just 99. The second week running that a side has been desptached for less than 100.

The batting started slowly, but with 57 overs in hand, there was never going to be a problem with the over rate.

Devadason fell to a pull, which went more up then anything else. Straw perished to a 'chest' high full toss. Despite a signal from square leg that it was over waist height, the othe umpire deemed that it wasn't 'fast'. Sylvester was next to perish, when he got a ball that jumped off a length, and could only fend it away.

Marriott continued the scoring and moved it to within 20. In the meantime, the teenage duo of Potter and Hughes had fallen in the chase.

Simon ' take is easy' Marriott then promptly didn't take it easy and skyed the ball to cover. PANIC.....

No panic, everyone knew that Uzman was in the mood.... Having knocked his bat in around the boundary, upsetting several of the Old Cholms players. Mr Chaumeton took most exception and wandered off to the boundary, for 'a little chat'.

Zaman had the last laugh, as he put the ball, MILES over the boundary for 6, off, you guessed it, off Mr Chaumeton.

Game, set and match..... 100/6 with 23 overs to spare.
St Albans 30 pts Old Cholms 6 pts.
