North Enfield 1st XI v St Albans Cricket Club 2XI on Sat 05 Jul 2008 at 1.30pm
St Albans Cricket Club Won by 4 wkts
What a difference a week makes! After last weeks disappointing outing at Totteridge Millhillians, the Saints got their season back on track with a good win over North Enfield.
Saints won the toss and elected to bowl on a reasonable looking pitch, albeit one that had been uncovered during the rain earlier Saturday morning.
The opening bowlers took an over or two to find the right length but once discovered the pitch gave great assistance from the far end where Charles Smith returned with figures of 16 overs 4 for 58 and Daniel Longhurst 3 for 35 of 16.2, Ed Hart claimed 2 for 11 of his 4 overs as North Enfield were all out for 170 in the 46 over.
After having NE 85 for 5 Saints felt they'd let them get about 30 too many, but with a long batting line up were rightly confident in their ability to knock of the runs.
Rowlands (54) continued his good form with his 2nd 50 in as many games and was well supported by Ed Hart (43). The innings was finished of by Raza Chaudhry (21 n/o) and Mike Curtis (15 n/o) giving Saints another 30 points keeping them close enough to the top 3 to keep promotion hopes alive.
