Match report Yet another poor, abject batting performance.
Having fielded well for 30 overs, let the Harpenden captain get away and score his century.
224 was always going to be a tall order, but due to a quirk in the computer fixtures, St Albans were facing Harpenden away for 3 years ina row, and skipper, Jerry Fretter was determined not to lose.

It was not helped when Zaman, the pinch hitter was bowled for just 2 and was followed by Sylvester, in a needless run out for just 5.

Black and Marriott put on 29, before Mariott was bowled and Black followed shortly after for 24.

Despite resistance int he lower order, they could not hang on, as Pankhurst, O'Donnell and Geffin all fell with the score on 101.

A disappointing four weeks, finished off, as skipper, Jerry Fretter could only stanbd at the non-strikers end as the wickets tumbled. A draw may have denied Harpenden promotion, but in the end, St Albans had to settle for mid-table.

Not too bad a season, but it could have been so better. With only one score over 200, it was the batting which let the side down throughout the season.

Another season in Dic 10 next season, providing, the playing staff, is improved, should see the side pushing for promotion.
