Redbourn v St Albans Cricket Club Boys U13A on Thu 10 May 2018 at 18:00
St Albans Cricket Club Won

Match report St Albans, expertly captained by new wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Mulvaney, won the toss and elected to field against a strong Redbourn team. A tight opening spell from Matthew Dugmore and Tom Mumford kept Redbourn in check for the opening overs , before Joe Mason came on and bowled three key batsmen in rapid succession. Joe’s final figures of 3 for 15 were an excellent reward for his consistent line and length. Josh then rotated the remaining bowlers well, and Jack Longbottom, Muadh Ansari, George Sims, Jamie Church and Max Meyer (with one wicket) all performed well to help restrict Redbourn to a below par 87 for 5 off their 20 overs.

In reply St Albans batted aggressively from the off, despite facing an attack featuring three county bowlers. Tom Mumford opened with Dylan Laird, whose debut as an opening batsmen was sadly ended by a full length ball that kept low. Tom (32 not out) was then joined by Josh (29) and a series of powerful drives, hooks and cuts got St Albans up to 70-ish in only 10 overs. The job was then finished by Jamie Church and George Sims with plenty of overs to spare. All in all a good away victory against a strong opposition – well done to all who played.
