The club fielded an additional team on Saturday as a 10-man Club team took on Stoke Green on the plastic at Sandpit Lane.
Skipper for the day Eamon Goodfellow called the toss correctly and had no hesitation in opting to bat in the warm sunshine. He may have reflected on that decision a few overs later as the Saints found themselves 2 wickets down early on after both Webber and Cunnington went cheaply. Goodfellow and Pankaj set about steadying the innings until Goodfellow fell for 13 missing out on a juicy full toss. James Lawrence then came to the wicket and with Pankaj put on 47, until Pankaj fell for a hard fought 17. James and Peter Melling put on 41 and it looked like the St Albans innings was heading towards 180 - 200. However despite some good cameos from Zachary Tarrant and Kavisha Waidyaratne the St Albans innings fizzled out on 148 off their 35 overs, James Lawrence top scoring on 60.

The fourths were playing on the adjoining pitch and a very convivial tea was had with all four teams descending on a well stocked tea table and enjoying the late afternoon sunshine.

Defending 148 on such a good batting pitch was always going to be a challenge and the Club X set about trying to find a bowling combination that would give them the edge. Kavisha and John Webber started steadily and when Stephen Steinmetz came on to bowl the Stoke Green team were scoring at a good rate but losing wickets regularly. James Lawrence backed up his batting with a good bowling performance and Kevin Milton's canny leg spin almost turned the game the home team's way. Alas it was not to be and the Stoke team ran out winners by 4 wickets. Notable performances in the field came from Marcus Cunnington who took two catches and a sharp stumping and also from Kavisha Waidyaratne with a great "one stump to aim at" run out.
