St Albans Cricket Club Sunday 2XI v Harrow III on Sun 04 Jul 2004 at 1.30pm (NOT NOT NOT 2pm)
St Albans Cricket Club Lost St Albans Lost by 60 runs
Poor Bowling, Poor fielding etc ??!! gave them far too many runs.
Chasing 286 to win was always going to be a tough ask, But with Pat ' the block' Sylvester in fine form and Nick 'slog' James setting off at lightening pace, the target didn't seem so big.
The captain decision to bring in the boundary area, made it about 30 metres alround...... and any bat non ball was, or should have been 4 runs.....
Nick James and then Simon Fretter both fell in trying to advance the score.
Captain 'whatshisname' Devadason and Pat set about trying to settle the scoring. Yes, No, Wait seem to be the calls for all following batsmen to try to copy.
Rex fell to a run out.... which then saw the really slow bowler (harris) take thre wickets as he beat Budd in flight and then Hughes and Chairman Maynard falling to stumpings, or should that also be run outs !!??
J Fretter, complete with headache and double vision, following a blow on the head from his own team mates ( Hughes your dropped ??!!!) knocked the ball around at 6-7 runs an over, but succeded in running out Pat ' yes/no/wait' Sylvester when he had made 74. (anyway, at least he didn'y get a ton. imagine what he would have been like with a ton....)
Ladharem fell in the cause, and Fretter J fell when trying to steal a non-existant single to the bowler.
The writing was on the wall, as Rudlin J fell in the next over.
Funny, but Harrow played a batsmen at No. 6, who hit 32, whioch included 4 x 4 and 2 x 6, and yet at half time, brought ona sub fielder, because he had to leave early, without informatiuo either umpire or Oppo captain. As this was a League match I found this a little against the laws and spirit of the game.....
Perhaps, that was me just being a bad loser.... or was it......... ( they had obviously planned that this would have occurred, or whay else bring 12 players ??!!) One for Captain ' whatshisname' Devadason to worry about.....
