St Albans Cricket Club Men's Indoor v Kings Langley on Mon 26 Sep 2011 at 8pm
St Albans Cricket Club Won 3 runs

Match report An exciting start to the indoor season! St Albans got off to a flying start with openers Ben Ramsay and Matt Howeson getting 50 from the first 3 overs. St Albans then contrived to get themselves all run out. A good innings from Toby holding it together in the middle, ensured we had something to work with. Given the start we had 120 was well below par, but defendable at least.

We started very well with Kings Langley regularly losing wickets, good bowling from indoor debutants Adam "Hammer" Hounslow, and Jon "Smudge" Smithers, reduced Kings Langley to 30-5. Some good batting and some lacklustre bowling followed, as the Kings Langley number 6 took his side to within 3 runs of an unlikely victory. A fine catch from Smudge, securely taken with his forearm, off the bowling of Matt Howeson finally wrapped up the St Albans victory by just 3 runs, with Kings Langley 117 all out.

It was great to come away with a win after the first match, and some definite positives in the game, but we will need to perform a lot better to beat the strongest sides in the league.
