Redbourn v St Albans Cricket Club Men's Indoor on Mon 16 Oct 2006 at 19:00
St Albans Cricket Club Won 2 wickets

Match report St Albans heroes took on a confident Redbourn side with both teams coming off easy wins last week. St Albans again inserted their opponents and it was a story of good straight bowling and nobody telling Redbourn that a straight bat was required. Good lines from all bowlers lead to wickets coming at regular intervals and you do not pass the beast Galloway at mid off as Redbourn's scruffy Jack Russell look alike found out when his drive was enveloped! Redbourn finally stuttered to 76. In response St Albans sent in the young hero Rosson only for him to go back to a straight half volley and be trapped plumb lbw, confusing as there were no women to distract him!?! Galloway then proceeded to block and leave a maiden leaving St Albans 3-1 after 2 overs. Step up the dream partnership of allrounder O'Toole and wicket keeper batsman Jones, the rate was increased and the runs started to flow with Jones striking a free hit for 6. A couple more wickets fell and with Jones in the hutch St Albans required 16 from 2 overs with 3 wickets in hand. The first over was to be bowled by an even lankier version of Peter Crouch who's action belongs in a cesspit. A mixture of short and full pies can however be quite bamboozling, especially to Longhurst and Rodgers! Longhurst clipped a vegi pie to midwicket and Rodgers scampered through for a tight single but luckily the Redbourn keeper was not in the same league as Jones and the bails were broken by his bingo wings. Young superstar Rosson was in the cage and adjudged not out only for 6 dummys to land on the carpet and 6 grown men cry. After a period of 2 hours crying the senior umpire Bob Woolmer went back on Rossons decision and gave him out! Next time Jimmy show the same arrogance you show with the ladies and tell them all to "go away with funny jerky movements!" So after this little fracas Jones returned to finish the job with Longhurst and this was done in the most professional manner with 2's and 3's a plenty! This left Longhurst 1 run off 3 balls, the first was a wild swipe for 10 (maybe trying to emulate Jones' 10 off the last ball 2 weeks ago!), the second hit the pad and went straight to the fielder but Longhurst used his brain wandered out of his crease and lured the needed overthrow. A beautiful victory once more for the St Albans hero's! This weeks stat of the week is Jones' average: 113!
