Match report Winning the toss Yarl cc went into bat on the astro at SLCG. The opening bowlers Umar Mukhtar and Fin Killner kept the ball full, as anything short on the astro was punished. Fin picked up the first wicket and continued to be rewarded for his consistent line and length in both his spells. Tom Bentley(5-30-2) bowled with great pace and bounce and got his just reward, with the support of great catches by Hugo Thomas behind the stumps and Siva Battula.
However in the middle overs Brajesh and Partha were able to build a very useful partnership. But the return of Fin Killner for his second spell saw the end of Partha, and the Yarl cc innings was wrapped up quickly. Fin Killner claiming a well-judged caught and bowled to complete his first every senior five-for, finishing with figures of (7-2-31-5). Yarl cc finishing all out on 182 in the 34th over.

Yarl's opening bowlers were quick, and varied their lengths very effectively on the astro to trouble both St Albans openers, and had St Albans at 21-2 in the 5th over. Hugo Thomas (34), and Umar Mukhtar (31) recovered the position putting on a solid partnership punishing any loose deliveries. Once Hugo was out the rate slowed and there were several missed opportunities to take quick singles, or put the fielders under pressure and turn 1s into 2s. The momentum was quickly turning in Yarl's favour. However Ben Killner (42) pushed his batting partners hard, and demonstrated how good running can very quickly change games - the pressure on the fielders started to leak runs. With 13 needed off the final over it was evenly balanced, unfortunately Ben was bowled on the 2nd delivery. 11 still needed off 4 balls, and now the last man in. Sadly there was to be no fairy tale ending - unable to get bat on ball for the last delivery St Albans finished 4 runs short of their target.
