Hatfield v St Albans Cricket Club 2XI on Sat 19 Apr 2003 at 2:00
St Albans Cricket Club Won Won by 127 runs

Match report In the first match of the season, Captain Miky Eames, lost the toss and was asked to bat against a young Hatfield side.
Raza, looking rather portly, with Sylvester, saw off the early attack as both player moved into the 20's. However, Raza fell for a quickfire 27 (if you could call anyhting by Raza 'quickfire') as he edged behind. Sylvester followed soon after as he spooned a catch back to the bowler.
Fretter S (fresh from Uni) and Nadeem started to blast the ball to all parts, until Nadeem was bowled by the best ball of the innings. Captain Eames lasted only for a few balls before he fell to a similiar delivery.

With Fretter S joined by Fretter T, the ball started to be hit to all parts. Despite a strong appeal against Fretter T for a caught behind, he continued to support his elder brother. Having hit a quick 31 he went for a pull out of the ground, only to hit the ball about 3 yards to the keeper. Hallchurch came to the middle to find Fretter S in fine form and hitting the only maximum of the game. Hallchurch strached around for 9 solid runs before he fell going for a big hit. What a sight to see Fretter S and Bashfor batting together....... Fretter S being run out off what was the last ball of the innings. St Albans had reached 183/7 from 40 overs.

Fretter S and Naveed oponed the bowling and Fretter S continued a fine alroud peformance, as he had the opener caught by Bashford for just 3. He then trapped the next batsmen LBw with a full toss. Three balls later he found the edge to have the batsmen caught behind ( by his Dad ??!!). Naveed joined the wickets column as he also had a Hatfield batsmen caught with a full toss. Hatfield were in tatters at 44/5 and despite a close run out and catches which 'almost' went to hand the St Albans team were always on top.

Bashford entered the bowling and soon found the first wicket of the season ( not including 50 at nets ??!!!)
he continued to take wickets as Fretter T took two catches in four balls.

Raza (lead boots) also took two fine diving ( I think he actually fell over ??!!) catches with Fretter J taking a run out with a back hand flick out of the gloves. Hatfield were reduced to 10 batsmen, as one fell victim to injury in the first innings, and was unable to bat. Bashford finished the match with another well pitched ( yes, it was, it wasn't a leg stump lonh hop......) and was caught at mid-on by Fretter T.

St Albans had won by 127 runs with just 10 men.....
