Match report A sunny day and an attractive ground to finish the 2017 season with the hosts, Knebworth Park, requiring 17 points for the divisional title and some pride and a good final placing the targets for the first XI. In an often one-sided match, the hosts won by a large margin.

Matt Howeson asked the hosts to bat and they passed 50 before the introduction of Foster & Mabuza slowed the runs and made inroads in to the batting. Arslan, in pinch-hitting role, skied to Howeson and the more circumspect Roseberry was bowled. Sergeant and Turner rebuilt steadily at first before playing more expansively. They put on 53 before a good catch by Sandipan Chanda at slip brought Skeggs to the crease. Along with Turner, the pair put on 98 in 18 overs with good placement, good running and the occasional boundary. Dan Foster's second spell dismissed both, along with Warman, for figures of 3 for 48 tarnished by 2 straight sixes as the innings finished on 254 for 6. Mabuza, in his last match, took 3 for 30.

After Chanda's early departure, Mabuza took on the bowling from the start. His fifty, from 33 balls, is his quickest for the club despite sometimes overly aggressive fielding highlighted by a 'send off' you don't want to see on a cricket field. Jonny Hall and Tom O'Toole both made 20 and Jacob Winfield 18 but no other batsman made double figures as the last 6 wickets fell for 37 in 8 overs.

An impressive fifth place finish with third placed Watford only 7 points ahead. Hall, Mabuza & Simon White all finished with over 250 runs and averaged over 30 with White also taking 23 wickets. Foster, Mabuza, Winfield & Max Capaldi all took at least 10 wickets each. Sandipan Chanda took 14 dismissals as wicketkeeper.
