St Albans Cricket Club Won by 134 runs

Match report
For the second week running stand in skipper Winfield lost the toss and the 4s were put into bat. Nadeem Arif was promoted to open and asked to bat long with partner Charlie Parkinson (21). It proved to be a very fruitful opening stand, with Nadeem (39) playing both good defensive and aggressive shots for 4 to anything off line.

An opening partnership of 50 then brought a number of wickets with Najib Khan, Sam Mistry and Tom Wilkinson all falling cheaply, whilst at the other end James Lawrence was starting to accumulate runs with some fine shots to leg and drives. Winfield then joined Lawrence and both scored quickly with 4s and quick running taking the score over 150.

Winfield fell for 25 and James made a very good 63, but with still 7 overs remaining Josh Mulvaney (10 n.o) ensured the 4s got to the 40th over and finished 214 all out, a very solid team effort.

New boy Josh Moore was handed the new ball and his left arm medium proved very difficult to play and finished with an excellent return of 2 - 9 from his 6 overs and with a couple of drops in gulley was unlucky not finish with more. At the other end Sam Mistry was given the new ball and delivered a very fiery spell and was unlucky to finish wicketless on 0-15 from his 6 overs (the yips are officially over).

With Redbourn finding it hard to score Winfield and Milnes where first change bowlers and applied a run squeeze and at drinks Redbourn were just over 60 for 2.

After the drinks break brought wickets, with Mulvaney taking an excellent catch to dismiss the Redbourn opener off Winfield’s bowling, Andy Milnes then took a 3 wicket maiden taking the game away from Redbourn, leaving the final result inevitable. Milnes finished on 3-17 from his 8 overs and Winfield 1- 22.

Spinners Mulvaney and Pelham were very keen to get in on the action and soon wrapped up the tail, with Mulvaney picking up 2 wicket and Pelham 1, leaving Redbourn to finish on 80-9, with one of their players not batting through injury, after tripping while bowling.

A convincing 134 wins for the 4s and a good overall team contribution.
