Match report Two superb pieces of fielding played a crucial part as the IIs were victorious in Cheshunt, defending a total of 178.

After suffering some early losses, Cheshunt's chase gained momentum through Phillips and Grant. The match's pivotal moment then came with the dismissal of Phillips, who was threatening to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Skipper Smith's catch was a stunner, racing to his right from wide midon to dive to his right and snatch the ball inches from the turf.

While Grant remained at the crease, Saints still felt uncomfortable - but Patra's one-stump-to-aim-at runout despatched Grant and the remaining wickets fell swiftly.

Throughout, Saints bowlers performed admirably. Umar took 3-40, well supported by Telkman who went wicketless but deserved better. Ingham however, had the pick of the figures with 4-38, a reward for a fine spell.

Earlier, Saints had scrapped to a total of 178-9 in the full 53 overs. A sedate start from the top order (Telkman 32) was given an extra burst of energy from Ingham and Rosson, and the tail wagged energetically to put together a competitive total.

The fine bowling and fielding performance that followed ensured the total was more than enough to record a third win on the trot for the IIs.
