Match report St Albans III lost against Hatfield Crusaders in a game that was perhaps closer than the scores suggest. Having been asked to bat first, they made a strong start and looked comfortable at 84-2 after 30 overs. However only the top three batsmen made double figures, notably Max Brown with 76 and the last four wickets fell for only six runs.
St Albans bowled well but Hatfield rode their luck with inside edges shaving the stumps and lofted shots falling just out of the reach of St Albans fielders. Hatfield almost managed to repeat last years 10 wkt victory but Nigel Nicholls and Simon Fretter thwarted them with a wicket apiece at the end.
