Match report St.Albans and Watford played out a thrilling opening league game of the season at Clarence Park on a sunny Wednesday evening. Choosing to bowl, captain Alasdair Charlesworth revolved his bowlers well squeezing the Watford run rate -keeping them down to 17 off the first 7 overs thanks to some fine bowling by the St.Albans bowling attack.

Watford did however get to grips with the bowling and accelerated quickly in the latter overs posting a decent total of 78 in their 18 overs. Ben Hicks was the pick of the St.Albans bowling attack.

Wickets fell steadily during St Albans' reply and the match was always close, and ultimately went all the way to the last two balls. Freddie Sapone's patient 20 supported by Will Spencer (11) Alasdair Charlesworth (14) meant that St.Albans were able to scramble the winning run through Callum Emmerson and Ben Robertson with one ball remaining.
