Match report A good pre-season loosener against an understrength Broxbourne on a good but small pitch. All the bowlers found a good rhythm with Mark Connor and Charles Wark looking useful acquisitions. Peter Allum improved as the spell went on while Kirwan and Bash found the right areas. Even Rex and the Straw Dog turned their arms over in an attempt to achieve a total to chase. Dinesh Yogendra was very lively in the field but then made his first mistake by not volunteering to open. As Slug and Pat-the-hat set about the chase it looked like no-one else would get any batting practice but when Slug got out with the score on 69, after peppering the river off generous bowling, Dinesh got his chance to show us that he can bat. A convincing victory with everyone getting in the game in preparation for the league start next week.
