Luton Town and Indians I v St Albans Cricket Club 1XI on Sat 13 May 2006 at 1.30pm
Match was Drawn

Match report St A won the toss and elected to bowl on a low, slow seamer.

Early season rustiness meant the team leaked a few too many runs, but the killer was failing to complete 53 overs in the mandatory three hours. This was despite facing left right batting combinations throughout, a large outfield to defend, and the time involved in taking the full ten wickets. The result was St A receiving only 45 overs (which LT&I took three hours to bowl!) leaving an uphill struggle all the way. 15 points to LT&I, 9 points to St A. Ludicrous!

Despite falling 5 runs short of victory there were many positives to take from the game. The game saw strong league debuts from Martin Jones and Andy Cole, with the welcome return of Jaffer Chaudhry to the 1st XI. Gilbs, M Jones and Butt all scored runs. St A played all the cricket, with positive attacking bowling and fields, and aggressive, entertaining batting. There will be games where we play at lot worse and thrash the opposition.

Next week Hitchin.
