Match report The bowlers dominated a keenly fought local duel on another chilly Tuesday evening.
Harpenden chose to bat first and were quickly in trouble at 24-5 after 5 overs. A lively opening spell from Stanley (3-13-3) and Josh (3-7-3) doing the damage. A fine fielding performance, even with a fielder down, kept the batsmen under pressure, only a well played 22 from 20 balls by Nick Cassidy recovered the position to a competitive 79. The St Albans’ captain rotated his 7 bowlers well and they all made valuable contributions to wrap up the innings in 15th over.

St Albans’ reply was quickly in trouble at 12-3 in the 5th over. Nick Cassidy (4-18-2) and Tom Fisher (4-14-2) bowled very tidily to put St Albans on the back foot. However Matt Burman (32 retd) played a beautifully controlled innings, and with fine support and from Harry K-J and Jacob Winfield, St Albans were soon in a very strong position on 62-4. With only 18 required off 7 overs St Albans looked in control. Harpenden remained focused and 2 run outs started a collapse. 5 wickets fell for 5 runs and St Albans had snatched defeat from the proverbial jaws, losing by 12 runs.
