Match report On a chilly evening St Albans U13A beat Redbourn by 4 wickets with two balls to spare in an exciting game.

St Albans won the toss and were soon in the ascendancy, as both Redbourn openers were run out for 1. Wickets fell steadily and left Redbourn struggling at 49-7 after 10 overs. Callum Thomson (22) fought back and ably supported by the rest of the tail pulled Redbourn up to 92 for 9. The St Albans bowlers bowled tidily and were well supported by their fielders who managed 3 run-outs. The pick of the bowlers was Jack Ypey with 2-8-3.

St Albans’ openers Jack Ypey (25) and James Dempsey (14) got off to a solid start and were well set at 52-0 off 9 overs. Redbourn then broke partnerships at regular intervals and the match was nip and tuck to the final over. Needing 6 off the last 4 balls Alasdair Charlesworth hit consecutive fours in the gathering gloom to see St Albans home. Eric Fulham (4-10-3) was the pick of Redbourn's bowlers. He was well supported by the other bowlers and an enthusiastic fielding performance by the home team.
