Match report St Albans 4XI were left to rue missed chances as they slipped to a heavy defeat against Sandridge 2XI.

After losing the toss and being put in the field, St Albans made a bright start with the ball. Kirwan (2-36) and Webber (1-18) kept the batsmen in check for the first 15 overs and were a little unlucky not to pick up more than one wicket a piece with a number of tough chances going down in the field. However, with the change in bowling, boundaries were soon coming thick and fast and even the run out of Perras (37) did nothing to stem the flow of runs as chances continued to go begging. The introduction of leg spin from Parkinson and F. Nisar (1-50) slowed the run rate a little but couldn't stop Camm completing his century with support from Muskett (46). The return of Kirwan and the introduction of Melling brought three quick wickets, but with 42 overs gone, Sandridge declared with an imposing score of 242-7.

St Albans needed to make a good start with the bat if they were to hold out any hope of victory but the run out of Maynard (0) closely followed by the dismissal of Joshi (2) immediately put them on the back foot. A brisk 35 from M. Nisar, supported by an accomplished 18 from Burman on debut, briefly rekindled St Albans hopes but their dismissals in quick succession with the score on 62 heralded the start of the end. As wickets fell regularly at the other end, only F. Nisar (20) put up much resistance and St Albans were all out in the 36th over with just 105 on the board.
