Potters Bar III v St Albans Cricket Club 3XI on Sat 16 Jun 2012 at 1 pm
St Albans Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
The IIIs travelled to wind-whipped Potters Bar and completed a win in mercifully short time, on a day for the bowlers.
Winning the toss and inserting the opposition quickly lead to rewards for St.Albans. Little bowled an excellent line and length, while Tinkler kept the batsmen on edge throughout. From 28/7, Potters Bar suggested a recovery, but they fell to 61 all out, with the fielding maintaining pressure in trying conditions. Tinkler's three wickets were a justified reward, but Little's superb figures of 15-5-25-6 were the pick of the day.
Had onlooking astrologer Russell Grant been asked to forecast the result at this stage, he would surely have foreseen a Saints victory. An apprehensive skpper, ignorant of the opinion of the stars, and acutely aware of St.Albans' penchant for batting collapses, instead read the riot act to his top order.
St.Albans duly acted the part, losing wickets quickly to keep Potters Bar interested. But Crisp managed the game's top score of 17, and captain Eames, showing the benefit of time in the middle midweek, played a cameo to bring the match to a swfit conclusion. A four wicket win, St.Albans taking home 30 points.
