Match report Talha Turk claimed a 5 wicket haul to help St. Albans U12s comfortably beat Berkhamsted U13 Girls on what was their first and very impressive match of the season.

With both teams starting with only 10 players, St. Albans won the toss and elected to Field. Berkhamsted's captain Jess comfortably led the way with 22 before being bowled by Turk. Turk then struck 4 more times taking the wickets of Alice, Immy, Isla and Maddie - one of which was a superb catch by Oscar James who fortunately for St. Albans came to the rescue as a stand in at the very last minute.

Although fielding from Harrison Kellert, Joel McKinnon, Tom Johnson and Harry Durrant was tight, St. Albans did give away several runs in wide’s and no balls. Finally, two other medium paced bowlers, Ollie Barnett and Hashim Awan helped dismiss the home side for 77.

With a required run rate of around 4 per over to win the match, St. Albans opened with Edward Cook, who in partnership with Oscar James hit an unbeaten 37. The pair were graceful together as well as threatening, with Cook hitting seven fours and James one boundary during their 7 over partnership. Cook could have easily kept on going, but sadly had to retire on 32.

This was followed by two quick wickets for Berkhamstead by Alice and Natasha whose ball found James Colebourn run out and unable to get off the mark.

Finally, with several overs to go, St. Albans were left with Awan, who found form by hitting 26 not out and steered the away side to their first win of the season by 8 wickets in just under 14 overs.
