Lilley (Friendly) v St Albans Cricket Club Men's Indoor on Mon 02 Oct 2006 at 21:00
St Albans Cricket Club Won 4 wickets

Match report Lilley turned up short handed and under-powered. Galloway intended to make sure of some batting practice on winning the toss but somehow their skipper sneaked it and decided to bat. O'Toole and Howeson this time were asked to open up and Lilley were in trouble. 6 largely uneventful overs saw Lilley not do enough, O'Toole may have found himself a new dance partner for the dinner & dance this year. The batsman decided to feign a dance down the track which was enough of a red rag for O'Toole to put one up him. Not amused, he then played and missed for a couple before being bowled all ends up. Not content with that, Galloway insisted that he be allowed another innings to make up for the shortage in players. Step up Galloway to defend the no-ball present O'Toole left from the last ball of the over and then complete the misery by finally finding a better line (looks like pitching off the carpet is the way to go..) and dismissing him again with a ball that Howeson declared "a classic off-spinner's wicket" - although what relevance a classical off spinner had to the proceedings I have no idea.

All back in the hut for a woeful 66 and St Albans decided to reverse the batting order to ensure everyone got some time in the "middle". Jones was offered up as a spare fielder, the captain thought long and hard about decling but eventually relented and allowed him to stand in the corner. Berwick and Rogers took an effortless 20 off the first over taking maximum opportunity to complete safe runs before Jones was due in. Howeson was promoted as he "didn't do much last game" and proved his consistency by not doing much this game either. Galloway in next, needing to atone for a couple of run-out low scores kept Berwick company for the last couple of overs of buffet bowling. Despite reaching the target by halfway, the visitors very unsportingly decided to decline their end of the bargain in a friendly and provide some needed batting practice. Let's hope they return next week with a full side.
