Match report A good all round effort but sadly not good enough when various umpiring decisions go against you. This was evidenced when the opposition's centurion was given not out on about 10 and was half back to the pavilion when the only person the pitch (their square leg umpire) who thought it wasn't out decided to call him back! Unfortunately we do have ourselves to blame by then dropping him twice on his way to 105. Atkinson proved to the only bowler able to make any impact in their batting line up although the opening pair of Kirwan and Eames kept the opposition openers well under control for the first 15 overs. The resulting target set wasn't too daunting with the boundaries set enticingly close. Openers Kincaid and Malouf set a good foundation until Kincaid fell after struggling with an injury. Unfortunately an overzealous call for 2 paid for Malouf making a good league season debut. Galloway kept the momentum going with a typically forceful 36 but he too fell after a promising start. Goodfellow contributed with a stylish 17 but was caught by an impressive one handed effort on the boundary. Maynard managed to roll back the years with some impressive blows but sadly the run rate had crept too high for any realistic attempt on the target to be made.
