Match report St Albans comfortably on top with bat and ball but beaten by the weather!

In a 40 over game at the picturesque Berhamsted ground, St Albans won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Telkman and Nisar capitalising on the decison to bat first with Mark contributing a fluent 57 and Manny a streaky 66. With the platform laid and wickets in hand the Ashton and Still cameo (57 partnership) provided the much needed boost and entertainment with Ashton taking the prize for the biggest six of the innings.

With 221 on the board St Albans came out looking to attack, Harry Saunders set the tone with a spirited display of seam bowling stiking in his first over. The young Roche showed great character to overcome issues with line in his early overs and finished with 2 wickets supported by 2 excllent catches in the field by Still and Saunders. Spinners Telkman and Ypey continued the good work with tight and threatening bowling, Mark finishing with 3 wickets and Jack 1 from his 4 overs. Berkhamsted needed another 100 runs with 3 wickets remaining and then the rain set in.

The champions trophy final was hotting up on the TV just as everyone arrived back in the bar,leaving Roe Deer to roam the Berkhamsted outfield....
