Northwood Town II v St Albans Cricket Club 3XI on Sat 31 May 2003 at 1.30
St Albans Cricket Club Won by 173 runs

Match report On a hot and sunny day, St Albans won the toss and elected to bat. The openers Matt Howeson and Matt Bailes saw St Albans to 50 before Matt Howeson (18) gave a slip catch off the back of his bat - the wicket was a tad slow. Enter Hugo Thomas. Bailes and Thomas scored freely with the ball being hit to all parts of the ground before Bailes departed for 34. However Thomas carried on and with his batting partners giving him the strike went on to score a classy 116 before being caught on the boundary. Max Brown was undefeated on 22 when St Albans declared at 224-6 after 42 overs.

Opening bowlers Glen Turner and Dan Longhurst were on top form and proved far too good for the Northwood batsmen. Glen (3-19), running down the hill bowled with tremendous pace and beat the bat on numerous occasions. Dan (6-30), ambling up the hill, swung it miles and took two wickets in his first over. Despite St Albans dropping several catches and missing an easy run out, Northwood collapsed to 51 all out in 22 overs, their number 11 batsman being "absent shopping".
