Match report Friday evening saw the U13s play one of the last away matches of the season against Tring Park in what was a glorious setting. After winning the toss the St Albans boys elected to bat and put on an impressive innings of 125 in 20 overs.

Edward Cook put on a relaxing 17 before being caught out; Skipper Tim Bagnell lost his wicket at the first ball and Jo Price made a steady 15 before being run out. Luke Cavanagh was the pick of the batsmen however, as he hit a very impressive 27 not out which included 5 boundaries. Oscar James was almost just as good, but was unfortunately run out on 24. Finally, it was debutant James O’Kane who closed the innings with 10 runs.

Trings innings started off slow but after picking up the pace, they lost two quick wickets. Unfortunately, after one of their opening batsmen returned hurt, the other wickets began to tumble. All of the boys bowled well which included, Loveman, Turk, Bagnell, James and O’Kane, but it was Cavanagh who took a glorious wicket and Rhys Appleyard who stole the show. With a six wicket overall, Appleyard’s majestic spin bowling confused the opposition and the wickets tumbled.

With another 4 overs to go, the St Albans boys bowled out Tring to win the match.
