Match report Saints' Thirds will take a very respectable effort in the field from this opening fixture of the season, a low scoring game lost by 2 wickets.

Hay, Townend, West and Telkman shared the eight wickets to fall as Southgate Adelaide contrived to keep this a closer match than it perhaps should have been. All the bowlers bowled with discipline and good effort. They were backed up by some fine outfielding, Eames' opening catch of the season, diving to his right, setting the tone for further fine efforts from Faz Nisar and Jadhav.

Earlier on this cool but bright May afternoon, St.Albans had collapsed to 25-5. A recovery of sorts to 51-5, and then 71-6, was lead by new boy Thorner - the match's top scorer with 23 - and West and Thompson. An all out total of 79 was never likely to be sufficient, even on a sluggish wicket with an expansive outfield.

And so it was, despite the best efforts of the bowlers and fieldsmen, that Southgate Adelaide snuck home by 2 wickets.
