Match report Two Buttons starred at Verulam School to set up a Saints IVs victory over Shenley Village.

Bowling first, it was Alfie Button who made the early inroads, nabbing both openers with his consistent line and length. Hay chimed in with a pair of wickets; he may have done better with more consistency and some improved catching.

Saints were already in the ascendency when Joe Button entered the fray, quickly settling onto a good line and length, allowing the skipper to set appropriate fields. Hall nabbed two catches at short mid wicket, but Button's line saw him knock over the stumps three times, to finish with the excellent figures of 5-17.

The last pair added 30-odd before Alfie Button returned to close out the innings with a similarly fine return of 3-15.

Shenley Village tallied 97 on a wicket that was certainly slow; could Saints knock off the runs against an opposition who fancied their chances? Indeed, two wickets fell quickly - Harsha to a stunning catch at point. Jonny Hall (25, equal top score in the match) and Alfie Button then set about a recovery, but wickets fell regularly enough to keep skipper Eames nervous on the sidelines.

Eames himself entered the fray at 64/5, and took control of the situation by clattering anything loose to the boundary. His departure left just six runs to get and Walker gladly punched a full toss past the bowler to close out the game. A 3 wicket win was perhaps tighter than wanted, with a super strong XI on show, but the IVs winning momentum continues.
