St Albans Cricket Club Won By 73 runs

Match report A return to winning ways for St Albans with a 73-run win in Ware against Allenburys & County Hall to keep them top of Division 2B.

Choosing to bat first, Saints started well with Jonny Hall, playing his first match of the season, scoring quickly in making 32 before being run out going for third run. Hounslow, for 29, and Goodfellow, 14, fell in quick succession. Becks Mabuza added 65 with Howeson in 11 overs before the captain's departure lead to the last 7 wickets falling for 52 runs in 16 overs. Mabuza finished with 66 from 85 balls before he too run out going for a fourth run. At Tea, a target of 195 did not seem to be enough.

Allenburys struggled to score quickly from the start. Jacob Winfield struck with his first ball and whilst 27 runs were added for the 2nd wicket the scoring rate was slow. Mabuza's two wickets included the quick scoring Szemiako but it became a matter of when rather than if Saints would win. Max Capaldi picked up 4 wickets with only Graves offering any resistance. A wicket each for Rosson & Smith with two for Winfield

A win with 13 overs to spare and a game unaffected by rain added 30 points to the 2016 collection.

Bushey visit Clarence Park next week.
