Match report A relegation battle forced Southgate to push for a win – so on winning the toss they put St Albans in to bat.
On a good pitch James(42) and Nissar(84) put on 112 for the first wicket in 24 overs. The platform was set and St Albans set about gaining maximum batting points. The middle order never really got going, but managed to give Nissar as much of the strike as possible. Cameos from Khan and Little ensured maximum batting points, and a tough target for Southgate.

Southgate started their chase strongly. Saunders making the first breakthrough in the 13th over. Tinkler came into the attack and picked up 3 quick wickets. Supported by tight bowling from Ul Haq, Southgate were now falling behind the rate and at 82-5 were running out of recognised batsmen. Murphy and Kumar then came into the attack to finish the job. Unfortunately mishits fell into gaps in the field and some clear caught behind decisions were not given, preventing the team from getting the win the team richly deserved.
A great all round team performance, and confidence should be high as we move into the final win-lose games.
