Match report You hope that the weather forecast is wrong and until Tea the wet weather all but stayed away but heavy rain as Watford began their innings forced the First XI match to be abandoned last Saturday.

Asked to bat, Saints scored 170 in an innings which promised more initially when Michael Goodfellow and Simon White started with a flurry of 4's and 5's. When White was dismissed for 24 Ali was brought on. He picked up 3 wickets in his opening overs to leave the score at 72 for 4. Jamie Regan and Matt Howeson put on 31 before the latter was curiously given run out. Regan and Winfield followed soon after which left Phil Caley to shepherd the tail to a respectable score of 170. Caley's 31, with 13 from Dan Foster, was an innings of restraint in tricky conditions.

Tea brought some rain but this cleared allowing Jacob Winfield to bowl 4 balls , the rain increasing steadily as each ball passed. The umpires took the players off and all concerned abandoned the match at 5.30.

10 points to each side which leaves Saints fifth with five matches to play. Next week is a trip to Abbots Langley.
