Match report On a warm bank holiday Sunday, skipper for the day Dom Watkins won the toss and opted to bat. The innings got off to a sure enough start before the two openers Ed Lowe and George Thomas went in quick succession, and skipper Watkins was out first ball at number three.

Hugo Thomas led the recovery with a quickfire 43 that saw him cart the opposition bowlers to all corners of the ground, but when he was out caught the saints were left looking at a low and uncompetitive score. Saunders, Haseeb and Kanchawala grafted in the middle overs to take the score past 100, but it was a late cameo from Coulson, scoring an entertaining and well worked 24, that saw the team reach the relatively respectable total of 159 all out.

Altaf Husain and Andy Loe started the second innings with a tight spell of bowling, with Husain picking up the wicket of one of the openers. But after that the saints bowlers struggled to threaten, with the other opener playing well before retiring on 88. From there it was a formality, with the opposition knocking off the required runs with several overs to spare.

The bowling wasn't too poor, and special mention should go to Abdul haseeb for some decent spin bowling against well set batsmen. But the attainable total meant that the opposition were allowed to play their way in early on, and begin to attack as the innings wore on.

Altogether it wasn't the saints day on this occasion, but some encouraging performances put them in good stead for the remainder of the season
