St Albans Cricket Club Won by 26 runs

Match report After being put in to bat by Wheathampstead Steve Divich and Si Fretter, promoted up the order, got St Albans off to a solid start. Unfortunately once this partnership was broken only Hugo Thomas and Gordon Murray offered any resistance. The rest of the team did their best to make the bowling look very good indeed, poor shot selection accounting for the majority of the cheap wickets, ending with a total 30-40 runs below what should have been…

Once in the field after being suitably nourished by a superb tea the bowling proved too strong for Wheathampstead. There were short spells for the returning Ian Heywood and Tim Pankhurst, both turning their arm over for the first time in many many years but showing promise once the limbs had loosened off! However the damage was done by the opening pair Dan Longhurst, finishing with 6-53, and Mike “Venus” Williams ending up with a hard earned 3-53, both bowling well in each of their spells.

A well earned 30 points.

Thanks must also be given to all the players who assisted in the clean up before the game. Once again mindless simpletons had taken it upon themselves to do their best to wreck the pavilion by smashing windows and daubing the doors and walls with graffiti.
