St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 33 runs

Match report Sunday arrived and so did a couple of important matches for the St Albans junior girls teams with u12 and u14 fixtures.
First off, a special thanks to the following girls (and their parents) who played in both matches:

• Jessie & Charlotte Nelson
• Hannah Bentley
• Jessica Cowan
St Albans won the toss and decided to bowl. St Albans bowled very well keeping Stortford batting tied down at both ends. Stortford struggled to get the ball to the boundary. St Albans co-captains (Grace and Georgina) set the field well and poor running kept Stortford to a low 220 as the final pair came into bat. Stortford's final pair looked like experienced cricketers and took the score up to 255 at the end of their innings. Not an insurmountable score by any stretch. Georgina and Hannah faced the opening overs from a tall and quick bowler and held out admirably. Christine and Evie doing a great job behind the stumps at their first attempt at keeping wicket.
Evie, Jess, Jessie and Cleo all held their wickets well to some good bowling with only a few run-outs pinning us back. Grace came in a smacked a four from her first ball, but again the running between the wickets pegged us back.
Charlotte and Grace Bond came in last but had just too much to do in the end.

All in all a strong team performance against a tall and powerful Stortford team.
